A clean install of the Tracker application on the new machine is the most efficient solution. Access the NGramdata website free trial download though the Pricing page and download and install Tracker on the new machine. After expiry of the Free Trial period the Tracker application will prompt for registration code entry again. Sign into the relevant customer NGramdata account and copy the paid registration code into the Tracker interface on the new machine to fully register the paid subscription.
If a large or complex clone hierarchy needs to be transferred to the new machine, please Contact the NGramdata team for assistance and instructions on how to do this.
No. Currently - because of the extremely large cloning scalability of each installed Tracker application, a new paid subscription is required for each machine installation after Free Trial expiry.
NGramdata Tracker is optimised to run on Windows 10. Please contact NGramdata support through the website Contact form for installs on other operating systems.
Security
NGramdata holds no onsite personal data other than the subscription and/or website contact form email addresses. These are securely encrypted before archiving and deleted from our storage upon subscription cancellation.
The Tracker application collects no information (personal or otherwise) from its running environment and transmits only an anonymous TCP/IP handshake to initialise server content streaming. During this communication - as is normal practice - the client machine public IP address will be visible to the server to enable normal client/server interaction.
Any client Tracker application communicates per normal "handshake"-initiated TCP/IP protocol ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Protocol ) to the NGramdata server and - although no personal identifiable information is transmitted - all client/server communication is securely encrypted end-to-end.
It could be that local machine antivirus and/or firewall settings block or prevent client server communication. Please follow any applicable "How to set a program as trusted" or "Allow a blocked app" or "Configure local overrides" instruction available on the web. If uncertain - please contact NGramdata support through the website contact form for assistance.
All Tracker installation packages are virus-tested on multiple levels for utmost safety and security. Local installation machines will almost always perform additional anti-virus testing on the Tracker exe set before installation. Please contact NGramdata support through the website contact form for assistance in case of any persistent error flags.
Even though NGramdata at any stage holds minimal individual customer data, it is set policy to never share any customer information whatsoever with any third party.
General
The Tracker application is a client interface that reports very recent (sometimes up to the minute) website text content changes that are processed and output 24/7 by a large cluster of server URL-monitoring "worker" apps. The aim is to provide a real-time online information channel (website-text-addition) that to date has been poorly covered or not covered at all.
The intended commercial audience are lead generators (external as well as SME internal), digital marketing and SEO agencies, performance marketers, local newspaper advertising (online or hardcopy) and business chasing new sales opportunities in real time.
NGramdata's specific goal is to grab web content change with the broadest possible coverage. By definition this means that NGramdata Tracker feeds will cover a much wider array of local events, plans and announcements. This enables the broad spectrum of different types of NGramdata Tracker users - RESEARCHERS, LOCAL AND NATIONAL BUSINESS, COMMUNITY ACTIVISTS, COMMUNICATION SPECIALISTS, MARKETING AGENCIES, ADVERTISERS, LEAD GENERATORS, etc. to find specific feed channels that fit their analysis or production purposes - which in many instances are not limited to narrow "ABC wins contract" type news.
View the NGramdata Power Tracker demo video at the top of this page for a quick and comprehensive 6-minute instruction on all interface functions.
Virus checkers can perform several levels of executable file pre-opening tests to ensure no malicious malware is present. Messages may be displayed such as : "Hang on - the file may contain something bad" or "Sorry for the wait - the application will start in a few moments...". Please follow and work through any anti-virus messages - NGramdata has been sucessfully checked against all leading worldwide anti-virus packages. If any problems please Contact NGramdata support for assistance.
NGramdata Tracker pushes (pipes) sourced website changes as real time business information directly to end users in a ticker-type format.
Browser search results (even if "time" is set to recent) needs constant refreshment to imitate a real-time results flow. Combining manual 24/7 page refreshment with productive filtering and aggregating of final results is hugely time-consuming through repetitive static browser searches. NGramdata Tracker combines real time search results production with seamless filtering functionality as well as a range of non-attendance alarms and efficient results backup in one easy-to-install-and-use package.
Yes - your NGramdata master Tracker application will automatically and seamlessly update to the latest version when user interaction is low.
Drag the edges of the Tracker application interface to change to any physical size - up to full desktop or laptop screen sizes.
Tracker is optimised to use as little CPU resources as possible. As comparison on an Intel Core i5 machine each Tracker (or clone) installation consumes less than 0.2% average CPU resources.
Currently no. NGramdata plans to roll out the mobile version of Tracker in the near future.
Currently NGramdata scans over 4.8 million UK websites as source for "Local News UK". This total grows by around 10,000 sites a day. Source populations for other geo-industries vary according to market size of the industry in the UK. Ngramdata runs specialized sourcing algorithms 24/7 to dynamically add "productive" URL's whilst simultaneously disposing of "non-performing" source websites.
On very infrequent occasions a website goes offline between the time of sourcing on the NGramdata server side and presentation in the client interface.
NGramdata uses several proprietary algorithms to determine what sites are to be included geographically into tracking groupings. It infrequently happens that a USA site for instance will have information on it (in perhaps a news item) that pertains to the UK, or contains place names that are duplicated between the USA and UK like the cities Durham, Birmingham, Oxford, Newcastle, Plymouth etc.
No. The Tracker application applies algorithms to smooth line entry item output and to "space" server content streamed in the interface window. It can happen that there are waiting periods in content streaming. It could also happen (very infrequently) that server maintenance is carried out. If concerned please Contact the NGramdata team through the website contact form.
Tracker keeps a running text log of operation on the local machine that it is installed on. Contact NGramdata support for assistance in sending this log (containing no personal identifiable information) for inspection so that any crash issues can be resolved.
When starting up multiple clones in a short time span on a specific machine, specialised timing buffers are employed to "balance" the communication time each clone is allocated with the server. This might take a minute or two - during this time it can happen that clones are greyed out. After a few minutes clones should be active again. If there is a sustained period of greyed out activity, please Contact NGramdata support through the website contact form.
NGramdata does not analyse sourced feed content for included dates i.e. date of report written. It can happen that the date of online publication differs substantially from content-included dates of i.e. completion or finalisation. NGramdata strives to feed content as fresh to publication date as possible.
It can happen that URL content is picked up from popup pages or from dynamic ticker-type feeds on a page. Subsequent checking might then not directly show searched-for content. An effective (but slightly more time-consuming) way of linking up to NGramdata Tracker feed content online is to copy and paste feed content in quotation marks into any major search engine and checking search returns.
Simply close the master parent Tracker and re-open it. NGramdata sometimes performs server maintenance on Sundays from 00h00 GMT. Trackers that are open and running at the time of server maintenance need to re-connect to the NGramdata server after maintenance operations.
Click on "Account" in the NGramdata top-of-webpage menu and make sure that you are logged out. If sure that you are locked out, click "Log In" and then click "Lost Password?" below the red "Log In" button. Create a new password when a "Password Reset" email is received. This will create an alternative account entry route.
Tracker Functions
"All Entries" are stored/backed-up to 5MB of text volume and "Selection Hits" up to 1MB of text volume - after which both text files will clear and storage re-starts new.
Any search filter "hit" will be displayed with a small red vertical-bar indicator at the end of a text return in the Tracker interface window.
Clicking the "Clone" button at the bottom of the Tracker interface will generate a child clone. It is possible to create a "hierarchy" of clone generations in a grandparent/parent/child/sibling pattern where generations inherit filter- and other settings from parents. In this way powerful search filter combinations can be built.
All clones can be moved around on the desktop, resized, minimised, closed and re-opened.
A good strategy for easy visual check is to use physical interface size (grandparent = largest, parent = smaller, child = smaller still) as well as desktop placement (siblings on the same vertical/horizontal level and generations vertically downward or horizontally rightward) in a mosaic pattern. This is especially helpful when different generational hierarchies are created for filter queries.
It is good practice to first create a child clone from the master Tracker application and then use the child clone to start a filter hierarchy. This always leaves the master application free to start any additional filter hierarchy builds.
At the bottom of each clone application interface a text string will indicate the search filter currently applied by the clone. Search filters are inherited by a clone from its parent. In this way powerful search combinations can be built.
No. All Tracker applications track preset but dynamically growing populations of web URL's (currently the "Local News UK" URL population comprises over 3.5 million websites).
Per client request and through an Enterprise subscription, NGramdata can formulate and populate Tracker applications for any custom requested "trackings" i.e. 1 million URL's covering "Hospitality Outlets UK".
A child clone inherits the exact same search filter content as that of its parent. By comparing the text filter strings at the bottom of each application interface, children can be matched to parents. Use application size and/or horizontal/vertical desktop placements to organize hierarchical clone search families.
Any amount of search filter words can be set (up to a maximum of 100 alphanumeric characters per each search). Content can cover any combination of words - just keep in mind that uncommon word combinations can lead to few or no filter "hits".
Every clone inherits the search filter from its parent.
Let's say we want to filter for all UK counties containing the text "shire", but we also want to subfilter for "Nottinghamshire" and "Northamptonshire" and then specifically for the term "travel" in those 2 counties, with further drilldown finally into "rail travel".
Create a child clone from the master Tracker application. It is always best to start filter hierarchies from a master child clone onwards to leave the master application free as source for additional filter hierarchies.
Set the master child clone to filter for "shire" - when we clone a grandchild it will inherit this setting and also filter for "shire".
We then just append "No" to the grandchild filter to get our sublevel filter for "<No>ttinghamshire" and "<No>rthamptonshire".
We clone a great-grandchild from the grandchild clone, append "travel" for our next-level drill-down filter and finally append "rail" to a next-level great-great-grandchild filter - which will appear as a text filter string i.e. ...shire...no...travel...rail... at the bottom of the clone application interface.
With stepwise subfiltering, powerful search trees can be built providing result groupings on multiple sub-levels of search.
Any Tracker application (master or clone) "remembers" any of its own children clones that still exist when it itself is closed down. When the parent is re-opened after closing, its children (and their generations of children) will also automatically open. To permanently get rid of a clone just close it before its parent is closed.
Currently no. NGramdata is working on future application roll-outs that will incorporate more powerful filter build tools.
Each application clone inherits all the settings from its parent. This includes feed stream balancing pause buffers that can be quite extensive when a parent application has been running for a long time. The pause buffers can cause initial startup of some clones to take a few minutes.
No. Because NGramdata is primarily set as a visual information running "ticker", all processing and presentation is halted when minimised.
We make change visible. Every minute.
